The route begins in Monterroso, in the Fuente do Picho going towards Feiravella. At this point the route becomes wilder, mainly, when it crosses the Peneliñas and the oak wood of Pedreira.
At the Puente das Quendas and after crossing the Ulla river, the footpath narrows and winds between the many birch trees which conceal the river.
On arrival at the river beach of A Peneda, we will have completed half the route, where we find the Municipal Camp site of Monterroso, the municipal swimming pools and the Richada inn. What better place to relax and eat, than in this beautiful rest area.
Crossing the road and following the river, we soon arrive at Portosamil, not forgetting the enormous stone that we passed on the way, and that gives its name to the route. From there the path, sloping gently, returns to the start of the walk, passing by Lamagrande, As Revoltas and the La plaza de Santa Lucia.
The route, which is not difficult, is about 5 km in length and was created as a result of an initiative of the City council of Monterroso.
The excellent trout fishing reserve in the Ulla river, which is open most of the year, is another of the attractions and a reason why the municipal camp site of Monterroso was created.
