Located in Monterroso, which with Antas de Ulla and Palas de Reis form the Region of the "Ulloa", to the west of the province of Lugo, Galicia.
It has a wooded area of outstanding botanical interest and for that reason is visited all year round by tourists, specialists and groups of students from several Spanish universities.
It includes an area of several hectares, which meanders along the upper reaches of the river Ulloa.
The source of the river is only 13 kilometres away and the entire area is covered with trees. A large number of tables and barbecues are provided for use by visitors. It’s difficult to find free seats at lunchtime during weekends.
There is a riverside beach, with platforms constructed from tree trunks right next to the river where you can dive and also two summer swimming pools built next to the river.
In addition to the camp site there is a hiking route inaugurated by the Xunta of Galicia in 2003 and fishermen will be pleased to discover that parts of the river are well stocked with trout.
Across the bridge of the Ulloa river is the recently constructed (category 2nd) Municipal Camp site of Monterroso and a lovely inn right next to the river where you can taste the characteristic dishes of this region.
